Most recent Newcomers meeting had no attendees, possibly due to inclement weather - newcomers are participating at the event level, and will be encouraged to attend Novice Schola.

Chronicler

A new issue of "The Berserker" is being assembled. It will be offered in PDF format on the web site, as well as a print edition will be published in time for Novice Schola.

MoAS

Report provided by Deputy MoAS, Sarah Davies - Yule competition had a few glitches, but these have been corrected for the future. Lyle won the competition, with Sarah coming in second, and Griffin and Kayleigh McWhyte tied for third. Concentus performed at 12th Night, and several Bergentalers had items on exhibit.

MoL

Fighting and Fencing at Yule was safe and enjoyable. Waiting on an updated "Forms" link to deal with authorizations and renewals.

Siege Weaponry

William was introduced and welcomed by the populace as our new Captain of Siege Weapons. Has started a youth program. Graywolf (former Captain) is now the East Kingdom Siege Weapons Commander and reported that there will be a day at Pennsic devoted to siege and possibly combat archery as well. Graywolf is now testing more children’s activities and plans to introduce them at Bergental events.

Demo's

No Report - See New Business for details of Shriners Demo

Web Minister

Web site is in the process of being upgraded and changed, to great acclaim. Requested and received permission to add Siege Marshal as lesser officer to the Web page. Calendar has been edited and improved, backgrounds improved, etc. Web Mail server has been quirky and is being reconfigured to support accesss via POP3 clients such as Outlook and Eudora. Please see Detharlion with any questions, submissions or comments. Is still working on new mailing list and may have to use a secondary server. We will be stuck with Yahoo for at least another month. Detharlion is developing the officers’ web sites and earnestly requests biographies for officers and personae. Tardy submissions will be replaced by rumor and infamy.

Chamberlain / Gold Key

Lady Pagan Graeme has offered to step in as the new Chamberlain and has begun delivering supplies to event stewards and cooks. She has offered to pick up the Gold Key tubs from Fionnaghuala to ensure that they make it to events.

Chancellor Minor

Yule went very well, with particular kudos to the Siege folk who staged several games for young attendees.

Borough Liason

Alex is teaching a class on tablet weaving during Intersession. Two of the Tarbagons are in Scotland this semester. School is on hold until the end of the month.

Other

Guilds

  • Needleworkers Guild - next meeting will be on the 16th at Fionnaghuala's house. Embroidery is the main subject, but general sewing is welcome. Fionnaghuala's van broke down, so there is no way to transport Gold Key to events.
  • Calligraphy & Illumination - received blank scrolls from Mistress Eleanore. Mistress Elwynne did a calligraphy workshop at Tarbagon in December.
  • Cooks - Clarissa is planning a meeting between now and the end of the month.
  • Leatherworkers - No attendees in December - Tarbagon has requested that an upcoming Leatherworkers Meeting be held during one of the Tarbagon A&S Nights in the spring

1.

Phred circulated the draft of the event submission form for comment and correction. Bids should be submitted to the Barony four (4) months ahead of the proposed date. Phred went through the form and explained the format and features. Graywolf’s proposed archery event may serve as a test for the form

2.

GCC is offering Servsafe classes in March and April for a cost of $159 including the text. Clarissa, Fionnaghuala and possibly Elwynne may be attending. The Barony will investigate the possibility of reimbursing a limited number of paid SCA members per year when the certification is used to supervise a Barony event. Further discussion was tabled until February for review by the Exchequer.

1.

Officer Elections were held for the positions of MoL and Knight Marshall. At the time of the election to office, only the incumbents had professed an interest in maintaining those positions. By unanimous vote of those gentles present, the following gentles were elected: Mistress Eleanore as MOL and Lady Shazadi as Knight Marshal.

2.

Graywolf made a short presentation to Mistress Phred for her stunning work in countering bad film criticism.

1.

Pagan gave a quick report on Yule. The Shriners loved us and have tentatively penciled us in for the same weekend next year, with permission to use the ravine for the boar hunt. We had 143 attendees, grossed $1,700, and made approximately $300.

2.

Graywolf is speaking to the Fairview Sportsmen’s Club in Granby about possibly running an archery camping event at no charge to us. They would like to observe and run the food concession but are potentially willing to amend the menu. The site would be closed to the public during the weekend so we could have archery, siege weapons, and camping.

3.

There was an online discussion of possibly doing a demo at the Shriners’ Hospital in Springfield. The contact person is Bernice White. Alianor will call them to see about setting up a meeting with the Shriners to discuss requirements and the parameters of a demo. Graywolf , Phred and Detharlion are interested in assisting in the planning of such a demo.

4.

Novice Schola/Birthday will be on February 21st at the Episcopal Church in Holyoke. Elwynne has 15-17 classes scheduled and welcomes teachers. Elwynne and Lyle are working on a children’s track for this year.
